Who wants to breathe polluted air inside their lungs? No one. But unfortunately, 2020 had devastating events that impacted the air quality worldwide. While Australian bushfire was happening, a small volcano erupted in the Philippines. Then COVID-19 cases here arise. For some reason, those happening scares me a lot. The thought of inhaling nasty particles into my lungs was nothing but dark images. It felt like I would never come back to life if I were to inhale it. That was why I bought an indoor air purifier to protect myself at home.

Even though you are staying within the confined space, that does not mean you are safe from harmful air. Unfortunately, there is no one else to blame, but us, humans. The fumes coming out from our car and industrial plants polluted our environment. Then, climate change happens. That was I think the reason why unfortunate events are happening all over the world.

While Singapore’s haze is not as rampant as in other countries, there is still air pollution going on. Well, of course, we can do our part to protect the environment. But can we save what was lost by air pollution? Unfortunately, we cannot. But can we do something to protect ourselves; our lungs? Yes. That was why I decided to buy this indoor air purifier even though it was so expensive for my budget.

At first, I hesitated to buy such a device since it would be too much for my savings. I also thought it was not worth the money. But after reading a few reviews, I concluded that it would be best to buy an air purifier for my home in Singapore.

How Does an Indoor Air Purifier Work?

The indoor air purifier I bought is called air clear 50. From what I had experienced for the past three months, I must say that air clear 50 offers a lot of help in making me experience a better air quality. More so, during Circuit Breaker when I was working remotely from home. Nevertheless, our office air purifier in Singapore does the same. The only difference between mine and the office was the size. It is a lot larger than my indoor air purifier.

To further explain how my indoor air purifier works, it consists of a HEPA filter with carbon & sanitiser, a noise level of 26.5db, and a smart sensor that automatically increases its filtering speed.

So far, from what I had experienced, it cleans the air within fifteen to twenty minutes. Also, even though I have been using it all day long, my electric bill remains the same. It was indeed fascinating since I thought my energy consumption would increase. But I was wrong. It did not happen.

So, Should You Buy One?

Just like a smartphone, buying an indoor air purifier depends on your decision. But in my opinion, you should. It would be best to have something that could protect your lungs from harmful air.

But before you go purchasing one, you should know that not all of it is the same. Some can provide better air quality than others. Thus, better weigh all the factors first and consider which one suits your home or office.

In my case, I chose air clear 50 because it has a HEPA filter. It is excellent for people like me who have allergies. Now, I no longer have trouble breathing since all of those fine airborne particles are no longer there.

What Should You Look for in an Air Purifier?

  • CARD (clean-air delivery rate)

    • All air purification devices have this. It indicates how efficient it is in removing smoke, dust, pollen, etc. An excellent indoor air purifier should have at least 300 to 350 CARD, anything below that number would not be efficient as mine.

  • Size Guidelines

    • As I mentioned above, not all are the same. Its size is the main reason why an indoor air purifier would be efficient. It means that when you placed the air clear 50 in a large office, it would remove all the harmful particles. It can only purify the ones within their range.

I had trouble choosing mine, so I called the company selling it and asked for help. If you have the same dilemma, my advice is to seek help, too! Remember, there is nothing wrong with asking.

  • HEPA Filter

    • Again, as I have mentioned above, I chose air clear 50 because it has a HEPA filter. It helps a lot in alleviating my allergies. Thus, if you or any of your family members have allergies, it would be best to get an air purifier in Singapore that has this feature.
