There are people who take high importance on bed sheet, linen, and pillow selections. We do not blame them as with good selections of these, paradise may be reached (figuratively speaking) during sleep and optimal reinvigoration is a sure matter. During bed linen sales, we tend to pamper ourselves and opt for luxury bed linens. Satisfaction turns to doubt and indecision once these bed linens start to smell and we have little to no idea how to care for them. Worry not for here are some tips that may save you and your wonderful sleeping experience!
THINGS TO CONSIDER
These indecisions are coming from the fact that luxury bed linens are made from fine grades of cotton. These bed linens no matter how pricey and elegant, are very sturdy. In spite their being robust, you are just about right in knowing how to properly handle them as washing them properly will extend their lives.
USE COLD TO WARM WATER
Cold to warm water is the best for washing your bed linens as it does not in anyway ruin delicate fabrics. Hot water is only best for killing germs in your clothes, and for washing typical dirty white clothes and diapers.
WASH THEM IN A GENTLE CYCLE
Washing your bed linens harshly may leave them very battered. For these types of materials, gently cycle is the most applicable.
DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH ON THE WASHING MACHINE
Make sure to just put one set of sheets at a time as aside from these making your sheets cleaner, over loaded washing machines would bunch up your fabric and cause unnecessary tension during the wash & spin cycle.
TAKE NOTE OF YOUR DETERGENTS
Make sure the detergent is dilute before putting the beddings and do not pour them directly to the fabric. Start washing, add your detergent, then allow the machine to be filled at around ½ way before putting in your luxury bed linens. Use only ample amount of detergent as too much of it will result to the detergent coating the fabric. This will make it rough and can cause them to discolour as the un-rinsed detergent will absorb dirt and dander. If so this happens, run your bed linen with water and 1/2 cup of vinegar, then wash them again in the proper routine.
AVOID HARSH DETERGENTS
There are detergents especially made for bed linens - it would be the most advisable to use them.
SOME TIPS
Use ample amounts of baking soda to keep your luxury bed linens looking white and clean. In case of staining, never use bleach. Use your detergent and a cup of water only, and treat accordingly.
Aside from the tips, it would always be best to check the linen’s label which will note its materials and the proper caring for it. With these guidelines, and others that you may find on your own, you can now enjoy a peaceful sleep with comfortable, soft, and pleasurable-smelling sheets that make it feel as if you are sleeping on clouds!
